Handmade ceramic mugs designed in the smamriato (“splattered”) technique (or smammorizzato / schizzato) originating in Puglia, Italy.
This method creates a lively, speckled finish by splattering mineral glazes onto hand-formed clay. Originally a humble way for artisans in the town of Grottaglie to decorate everyday pottery, it has become a signature of southern Italian tableware—each piece spontaneous, rustic, and one-of-a-kind.
